Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days - Day Eight
I decided to redo the portrait from the other day. There was a lot that was right in that but also a lot that was wrong. This is a lot better and feels a lot more natural. I've been trying to really focus on creating a painterly look while capturing the way a person normally appears. I find that I'm put off by very stiff, formal portraits even though the paint handling and accuracy are superb. I've got a long way to go, but as they say, "practice makes perfect."

I went back to look at the original, and I think you did the right thing by adding to it. This one has a wonderful energy about it.
