This day lily is a variety that I got from my husband's late mother's garden. It continues to grow and multiply in our yard. I especially love the deep red-orange petals and the golden yellow throat. For this painting, I used my palette knife to apply Golden Open acrylic paint on gessoed watercolor paper. There is a bright orange underpainting that shows through here and there.

I am a painter living in Vermont. I've been painting for about 20 years learning as I go along. In the last couple of years I've been learning a bunch of new painting techniques and experimenting with new subject matter.
