Golden Pods

Golden Pods, 10"x9", Acrylic on Paper, $250

Every summer I grow several different kinds of poppies in my gardens. One of them, which I refer to as my ocean poppy, is dusty pink with a light grey center and thick, pale green foliage.  It grows wonderful seed pods that develop a row of small windows under the rim to let the seeds out.  I have done a bunch of paintings of these pods using different colors and techniques.  This is one of my favorites. I love the rich golds and the organic shapes.  I also had fun with the concept of incompleteness on this one, leaving two of the pods partially defined.
